I bought our Boxter for my husband after he crashed his Ducati 750 SS. He still felt free. We love it! Thank you for the information. My husband just passed away. I will never sell the car. It is our favorite vehicle ever.

I used to hate the fried egg headlights, but now I adore them, particularly with the orange. So retro cool. Funny how things change

3 years into owning a 2001 2.7 manual and it’s just the most fun I’ve ever had behind the wheel, and I was lucky enough to drive an original RUF yellowbird for a whole day! I spent the whole day missing my Boxster. It has never let me down, never left me stranded and never not put a smile on my face. Hope to keep mine forever.

My 97 Boxster is now 27 years old; I have replaced: top replaced with glass; seats skins replaced new leather; rotors replaced; so easy to work on and cheaper to service than the Kia in many cases! My Boxster stereo upgraded easy to Bluetooth. Overall, loves to redline and hammers; yep not the fastest out there…but it is so good to drive and handles like a go cart…reliable and fun!

I bought one for $11k with 105k klms on it. Best handling car I’ve ever driven. I’ll challenge anyone to a race on a tight windy road

Manufacture finally figures out to design seats that sit lower than floor level, Adam - "wish the seating position was lower"

I bought a 2004 S 6 speed three years ago. Was saving for a 911 after retirement and during Covid thought why wait to have a fun car? Long story short I love it. Pure analog experience flat six with just enough power to have fun on street. Simple enough to work on I am learning to do my own maintenance. Replaced the stereo system, speakers, and exhaust myself so far. I took the money I saved buying the Boxster and added a used Lexus LX 570 (J200 Land Cruiser) to my garage as a daily driver.

Definitely didn't expect today's car to be a Porsche so that was a pleasant surprise. It honestly surprised me that the biggest cost outside of fuel for the Porsche is the auto sensor. I'll admit that the Boxster looks pretty unassuming and that probably helps with the enjoyment of driving one as it's looks don't scream power. Great work as always guys and look forward to Sunday's video as per usual 👍.

I had a 2004 boxster S. What a POS. Electronic problems, radio/CD went out. Engine blew because of the IMS bearing. I only had it for 4 years when it died. Had to finish paying for it. Finally dumped it to a mechanic who rebuilds and resells them. NEVER EVER AGAIN. I now drive an F150 and never worry about getting stuck on the road.

What a coincidence to see you guys reviewing a Boxster, took advantage of the great weather in Melbourne yesterday in our 2003 Boxster S manual. Regular maintenance done as well as preventative fixes completed. Brilliant car, makes an incredible sound!

This car is THE perfect example of youtube/internet bs about over exaggerating reliability issues., 10 or so years later we come to know that the infamous dreaded IMS bearing isn’t all that they were made to believe to such point that big shops and garages that expertise in Porsche’s haven’t even seen a single casualty. 😊

I’ve had my 2001 for 2 years now and it is an absolute pleasure to own. They are easy to work on, shockingly reliable, drive like a dream, and sound beastly if you open the exhaust up a bit. You will not regret purchasing one, just make sure you find an example that’s been taken care of! Deferred maintenance will kill any car.

I have 3 boxsters, lovely cars. biggest issue as you say are the drain holes blocking and a damp carpet, regular maintenance and replace the fuel and water pumps as they can strand you. I prefer the early 2.5's, stronger engine and more durable overall. built like a tank. you can drive it like you stole it and it feels and sounds fast but it really isn't. super fun.

988 01S. I bought a crappy example and had to do everything DIY. a couple grand in parts later and I have fully fresh suspension with upgraded shocks, sways. New brakes and pads, clutch, ims, etc. Drives amazingly.

I had a 2002 986 S and it was the best sports car I’ve owned. I sold it for a 996 C4S and the Boxster was a better car. More fun, better handling, better noise, and weirdly more practical. The only bad thing was “Porsche people” didn’t care, so you weren’t part of the club, and non-Porsche people couldn’t care less.

Have owned a MY00 986s (manual) - 3 years, then a MY14 981s (PDK) - 2 years, and now a MY24 718 Boxster GTS (manual) - 8 months. Anyone that says these cars (Cayman/Boxster) are the poor mans Porsche are in it for Status not driver experience. For sure the 911 spec cars are spectular, and if that ticks your box fine. I've said to much. My daily drive now is a MY20 Macan GTS. (second hand). AND yes the Macan is pretty fuckin good too.

Love the Boxster. Love it. Had an IMS failure. More likely than 10% that you’ll get a failure in my opinion. …and a failure is expensive. Loved the car that much that we rebuilt the engine at close to the cost of what was paid for the car at AUTOHAUS Hamilton. But yeah…. IMS failure is real and horrific. And doesn’t really give you much of a warning.

Great video as always! Small note (as a finn): Uusikaupunki (meaning: new city) 🇫🇮 Same plant manufactured 987 Caymans too - and Fisker Karma!
