It’s the first generation of the Audi Q9 & SQ9, and it sits right at the top of the Audi range. What’s more, it’s also the largest Audi ever produced! So with that in mind, should you choose it over class-leading 7-seaters like the @BMW X7 and Mercedes @Mercedes-Benz GLS? Let’s take a closer look, starting with the design… From the outside, there’s no denying the all-new Q9 is a super large & imposing beast. Up front, there are similarities between the entry-level Q9 and this SQ9, although the latter has a more aggressive look to it, thanks to a different bumper and grille design. The large grille is flanked on either side by Audi’s class-leading DRLs, and the main headlights sit in a separate @Changan UNI-T on the front end. Around the side, the SQ9 is given more definition thanks to chrome surrounds on the windows, chrome roof rails and creases along the doors. At the back, Audi has fitted the SQ9 with 100% real quad tailpipes, as well as wraparound OLED taillights! On the inside, the SQ9 looks largely similar to all other recent Audis - but that’s no bad thing! The dashboard comes absolutely covered in screens, with the wraparound digital dial and infotainment screen, coupled with a passenger screen. There are little to no physical buttons, so everything is controlled through the screen. The materials are nice throughout the entire cabin, and the seats are large and comfortable. In the back, the @Audi SQ7 is available in a 6- or 7-seat configuration. The car we have here has the six seats, and the captain’s chairs are large, comfortable, and come with a high amount of movement. Simply put, the SQ9 is cavernous for passengers in the back! The Q9 series is available with a choice of either a V6 petrol or diesel, and a plug-in hybrid will also be available. However, in the range-topping SQ9 you’ll find a @Bentley 4½ Litre @Suzuki Twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet, and this delivers a @Dongfeng Huge 600hp and 800Nm of torque! As for price, the Q9 range starts from £103,900, rising to around £130,000 for this SQ9. But does it offer enough to sway you away from BMW or Mercedes? Audi finally built a car big enough to carry all the screens they've removed the buttons for.
1I'm still waiting for the SQ56, 22 metres long, 5 metres wide, weighs 16 tons, has 32 screens. 😵💫
1nice fridge, the interior is cool tho
1POV Headlight repair bill: £20000
1This looks like Hyundai Palisade and Hyundai Santa Fe 2020 fused together.
1I too like to get in my car by opening all the doors at once. You never know which one you should go through
1AUDI SQ9 MERCEDES GLS 63 AMG BMW X7 M them Germans no playing..
1Why is there so much cost cutting with large screens instead of proper metal buttons in a 150k car!
1this is one of those things that keeps me watching.
1They went from a classy grown up sedan, to a cheap plastic box
1The future of automotive doesn't look bright.
1When will they stop putting these not well integrated big iPads on the dash. I feel like even a Honda has a better interior
1It looks a lot like old Santa Fe, the front and back🙂
1i would be suprised if it isnt as big as a v-class in real life
1VW Touareg with a Kia k4 style driver monitoring cameras and stalk cruise control from the 2000s.
1Still can't get my head around why the average car driver needs automatic doors! I've always found this to be the hardest task of the day "how to open a car door?" GG as the car ages and all the stuff that will go wrong
1The lesser the buttons, the more the tablets and screens, meaning more accidents, leading to insurance pay etc. what a world we are living in
1I’m so excited for this revolutionary monster lol
1I wish every car here in Canada too had amber turn signals in the rear.
1Matt, on the shortlist? How? I understand that Carwow is a global channel, but the SQ9 isn't part of Audi's European lineup. The only way to get this model in Europe is through a private import from the USA or Canada—which, however, entails very high additional costs. As of today, you’d be better off buying a Zeekr 9X Hyper; besides, it’s a better car than the SQ9—much better, in fact.
