Both great cars. For long journeys the iX3 will go a lot further and charge a lot faster so worth bearing in mind if that’s a priority
1Nice review, but the vehicles were reviewed as if comparing small two-seater sports cars. Why not reveal a little about rear seat legroom and comfort? You know, review them like they were being used as a family car or a car that more than 2 adults might venture out in for a road trip.
1Honestly, between the two… consumers win. EV are starting to feel fun and competitive. I’d take either one.
1I own an R1S with white seats. They are incredibly durable. There is dye transfer from jeans to deal with. But it just takes a baby wipe to clean them good as new.
1You don’t need to push hard on those buttons… it just takes a second
1No mention of the assistance systems that the BMW is also selling itself on? This is one of the most important feature sets for the daily commute and you forget to mention it...
1You could take those Rivian headlights to make the BMW kidney grille LOL
1It is annoying to see review after review - choosing a 22" inch iX3 just to be able to complain about rough road feeling. Just ridiculous. If you care about comfort or efficiency - take the 20" version for god sake.
1Looking at the Rivian, BMW had all those interior features back in ... 2013, with the BMW i3.

1One rather critical thing missed in this review is that for us Americans, those aforementioned long distances and road trips mean that DC fast charging is somewhat more important. The Rivian is... a decent bit slower compared to the BMW (10-80% is iirc 29 min vs 19, so you're taking longer to add less mileage). That lost time does start to add up on a medium-ish trip. Granted, the massive cost difference does kinda make up for that
1I have an order in for the R2 in Forest Green, this just helped to solidified my decision.
1For the current state of the UK a soft supsension set up is miles better than "sporty", our twisty backroads where one used to have fun are now akin to an offroad track with so many unexpected holes!
1You can't tell who's best; it depends on personal preferences. It's like if you select BMW or Merc. Sporty driving or comfort..
1The moment he sat in the Rivian, I immediately thought this is just like the Volvo EX60. The Rivian looks cooler but it's hard to deny BMW's driving capabilities. I hope the i3 will remove the annoying stuff and up the good stuff.
1Also the placement of the rivian screen... It doesn't obstruct the windscreen.
